Huron Magnificat
We welcome you to Magnificat in the name of the Lord.
Magnificat is a ministry to Catholic women. Its purpose is to help Catholic women open more and more to the Holy Spirit through a deeper commitment of their lives to Jesus as Lord and to impart the Holy Spirit to one another by their love, service, and sharing the good news of salvation. It thus provides opportunities that will foster a desire to grow in holiness.
Magnificat ministers to those women in and out of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal whose faith in the person of Jesus Christ has allowed them to believe in the activity of God's spirit in their lives. It also has great appeal to those women who may be struggling with faith or who have lost touch with the Church.
Our name is taken from the Magnificat (Luke 1:46-55), the great hymn of praise that Mary prayed while visiting Elizabeth. Both women had been deeply touched by God. Elizabeth was bearing a long-awaited child; Mary was carrying within her womb the very Son of God. They came together to help one another, to speak of God's action in their lives, to sing, to pray, to share a common table, and to be strengthened for all that was to come. It is in this spirit that we gather quarterly to share a meal, to pray, and to hear one woman's experience of the transforming love of Christ in her own life.
Magnificat's Huron Chapter, also known as Our Lady of the Lake Chapter, is based in the Toledo Diocese in northwest Ohio. Please plan to join us for our next Magnificat meal. Bring a friend to rejoice in the presence of the Lord.
